Elegant dining and delicious comfort food come together at this inner-city restaurant. Taking inspiration from European bistros of the 20th century, Concord is cosy and a little bit luxe. Sit amongst velvet and gold as you enjoy seasonal cooking, thoughtful wines, and impeccable hospitality.
Concord’s menu perfectly balances high and lower-brow options. If you’re feeling fancy, go for the steak frites or half a dozen oysters. Or, keep it casual with a cheeseburger royale (the fries are excellent). For a dose of nostalgia, the shrimp cocktail is delightfully old-school.
A thoughtful wine list covers New Zealand and beyond. The knowledgeable staff are happy to pair your meal with the perfect drop. Or, order a classic cocktail to lean into the bistro-chic theme.
French and American influences continue into the weekend brunch menu. You’ll find breakfast classics with a twist (and a little indulgence). Crêpes with sugar, croissants and preserves, or sweet brioche toast pair well with a coffee in the sun.
Concord’s location is on a well-known corner of Victoria Street. It’s in the historic 1950s Mibar building, with sweeping windows and a distinctive ‘wavy’ awning above.
When designing the space, owners Sean Golding and Shepherd Elliott wanted to remain sympathetic to the history of the building. Nods to the era are evident, with interior details mirroring the curves of the building. Concord feels luxurious and comfortable. Plush velvet furnishings, gold accents, retro carpet, and moody lighting maintain a casual elegance.
A celebration of the old and the new, Concord means ‘a harmony between people and groups’. Or, in this case, between food, wine, good company, and great taste.
