The Ambeli
Fishing and Market-Gardening: the Greeks & Italians have always lived in Wellington. Newly-weds Shaebodine & Elisavet Moleta, have at last opened Ambeli. Their intimate restaurant is a timely celebration of this very special heritage: of fresh produce prepared with devotion; and of welcome and enthusiasm, which flourishes in the heart of Wellington! Tucked a few steps back from the hustle of Courtenay Place; Ambeli stands within 5 Minutes walk of all the theatres, and Te Papa Tongarewa.
Be welcomed to the warmth and comfort of this exquisite converted Victorian Villa: with an inspired a-la-Carte dinner service, and an engaging wine-list. Upstairs, Ambeli also boasts Private Dining Rooms for groups as few as 6, to as many as 20 people.
The Ambeli lavishes its patrons with personal touches; white linen, individually rolled hand-towels, flowers and considerate service; little reminders that you are a welcome guest. This culture; together with the amazing value of mains priced $24-$31, Ambeli has coupled comfort, and classic style; with passion and respect! Wellington dining has been forever divided, regulars of The Ambeli, and people that will soon become regulars.
Highlights from the menu: Seared Tuna; Panfried Haloumi; Slow-Cooked Crispy Duck; Pan roasted “Sweetbriar” Lamb; Chermoula Rubbed Groper; Ambeli showcases the spirit of the Mediterranean’s most beloved delicacies! Order your favourite from the a-la-carte menu, or a complete Degustation from $65.00.
