Part of Ngā Toi | Arts Te Papa current season, Simon Denny’s acclaimed Venice Biennale exhibition Secret Power explores surveillance, espionage, and New Zealand’s role in the Five Eyes international intelligence alliance and is well worth a visit this long weekend.

Support the Wellington Phoenix

Get the whole family along to cheer on the boys as they face Sydney FC in round 3 of the Hyundai A-League (23 Oct). Be sure to head along in your yellow supporters gear and join the Yellow Fever in singing songs, swinging scarves and staying true through thick and thin!

Get on your bike

Whether you like it easy-going, hardcore, or a bit of a mix, Wellington has all the goods for a good time on two wheels. Get your adrenalin pumping on Wellington's mountain biking trails, or cruise the waterfront on a quirky crocodile bike. If you've got more time, head to our neighbouring wine region of Wairarapa and spend a day cycling through the vineyards.

Meander along the waterfront

GelatoWaterfront 316x316

Spend the days exploring Wellington's waterfront, an easily walkable space dotted with cafes, parks, sculpture and delicious gelato spots. Read the poetry cast in concrete on the Wellington Writers Walk, take a two-wheeled tour with Switched on Bikes' electric bikes or grab some fish n chips to eat at Oriental Bay.

Spring clean your wardrobe

Fancy sprucing up your wardrobe? Wellington's has heaps of new shops that will keep you looking sharp. Spend a few hours ogling at all the beautiful things in the new David Jones department store, find some fancy footwear at R.M.Williams, or cruise Ghuznee Street's fashion boutiques including ENA, Caughley and Deadly Ponies

Feast on longer days

CubaDupa 2015 123

Enjoy the extra daylight hours by sinking into a beanbag with a cold drink at St John's Bar or Rogue and Vagabond, perching outside at one of Wellington's coolest courtyards, or visiting one of our many restaurants that make for great sunny day dining spots.
