Best co-shopper holding zones

Gone are the days of the uncomfortable ‘man chair’ stuck in a corner next to the clothing store fitting rooms. These days Wellington’s fashion retailers know that a comfortable area for co-shoppers to wait is key to getting you to stay longer, and try more outfits.

Lingerie luxury

Bendon holding zone

At Bendon on Lambton Quay they’ve really got it just right. Sophisticated Japanese-inspired décor, ikebana florals and essential oils hit the right note of sensuality without the sleaze factor. Plus kimonos in the dressing rooms mean you can actually model a potential purchase for your co-shopper without feeling like you’re wandering round in your undies.

Cushions & colour

Voon Holding Zone

Considering that one whole half of their store is bridalwear, you can be sure the team at Voon know all about taking care of co-shoppers to help decision-making. But even over on their everyday wear side, this Wellington designer boutique has created a cosy waiting space. A colourfully cushioned couch feels welcoming, and the bright atmosphere can’t help but put you in a good mood.

Comfort & style

Paris holding zone

The soft armchairs and range of magazines are winners at Hartleys on Lambton Quay. Their elegant space allows the primary shopper to try on a number of options from the store, knowing their co-shopper can settle in comfortably. Plus the huge mirror makes it easy to get a good 360-degree look for the all-important decision making.

Gentleman’s lounge

Barkers holding zone 2

At their flagship Lambton Quay store, Barkers have created one of the great menswear waiting areas. Wingback leather armchairs and dark wooden chests are balanced by clean bright walls and pinewood flooring in a space that feels both classic and modern. They also have a coffee machine. And a Steinlager beer fridge. And an on-site barber. Well played, Barkers. Well played.

Peek into a jeweller's workshop

Steph Lusted Jewellery Showroom sml

Don't fret. Steph's got look books of her work for you to flick through. You can even take a look over the glass partition from the showroom into the functioning workshop. Now that's co-shopper entertainment!
