Sacred Heart Cathedral stands side by side with St Paul's Anglican Cathedral - good neighbours with strong historical links.

Sacred Heart Cathedral was dedicated as a cathedral in 1984 having been build much earlier in 1901 as a parish church, replacing the cathedral church of St Mary constructed in 1858 and opened by our first Bishop, Philipe Viard SM.

Sacred Heart Cathedral is not large however it is giant in its design and acoustic features and is an outstanding city landmark. Take some quiet time in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, notice too the beautiful icon of Jesus and Mary created specifically for our cathedral and the consecrated oils for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick are displayed within a mosaic-decorated Ambry.

You can view mass times on the Sacred Heart Cathedral website.
