Cuba St Carnival - New Zealand's largest street party - celebrates its tenth anniversary on 21 February 2009.
The Cuba St Carnival is a dynamic event that transforms inner Wellington, NZ’s arts and culture capital, into an urban explosion of epic proportions, combining music, art installations, roving performers and artisan markets. Music stages are set up all over the city featuring an amazing array of live performances – and all for free.
As night falls the award-winning Illuminated Night Parade winds its way through the streets, engaging the crowd with a spectacular display of floats, dancers, performers, music, and many strange and memorable sights.
Attracting a crowd of over 100,000, the Cuba St Carnival is all about spontaneity, variety and surprise – an unforgettable street party that captures the imagination of anybody with a pulse.
