Good afternoon Jane

It's been as busy as a beehive in Wellington; the bureau has been wining and dining, festivities are brewing and our partners have opened new venues and launched some great deals.

Famil Guests Travel Through Time and Space

The exhibition at ZEALANDIA. Image: Karori Sanctuary TrustTwenty three conference decision makers from around New Zealand and Australia travelled through time and space during last month's mega-famil.

Guests were wined and dined (in between some serious site visits of course) and experienced a range of venues, including two new additions. ZEALANDIA: The Karori Sanctuary Experience hosted an exhibition of Wellington activity providers and Carter Observatory had us dining under the stars.

ZEALANDIA can host 120 people cocktail style and provides a special 'eco' venue just minutes from downtown Wellington. Guests can step back in time to New Zealand as it was before humans arrived in a state-of-the-art exhibition. New Zealand's 'place for space' Carter Observatory has re-opened after an extensive refurbishment and brings another venue with a difference where the sky isn't the limit.

Show and Tell: Award-winning Stand to be on Show at MEETINGS

Corner tower on Wellington stand at MEETINGS 2009Last year at MEETINGS, we launched a new tradeshow stand. Not that we like to blow our own trumpet, but it looked pretty cool. It turns out other people thought so too. Peek Display entered their creation into this year's New Zealand Sign and Display Association industry awards – and it won Gold!

Sure it's not exactly the Oscars Wellywood is becoming accustomed to, but we're still pretty happy about it. Come celebrate with us by visiting the stand (and us) at MEETINGS next month in Auckland - you'll get some great ideas for your next meeting in Wellington at the same time. MEETINGS is on 23-24 June at Sky City.

Bolton Menu Bound to Get You Thinking

Keeping with the food theme (did we mention Wellington loves its food?), the Bolton Hotel has developed a menu which is bound to get you and your delegates thinking – literally.

"You are what you eat, and that includes your brain" says Sarah Harris, Executive Chef at Bisque on Bolton. The Bolton Hotel's restaurant has developed a brainfood menu designed to keep your delegates mentally alert and sustained throughout your meeting.

Did you know that berries improve memory, or that nuts enhance your mood? Avoid the hazed blank looks from your delegates and check out the Bolton's brainfood menu.

Wellington On a Plate Menu Set to Double

Steve Logan from Zest Food Tours' Behind-the-Scenes in Two Top KitchensThe inaugural Wellington On a Plate festival cooked up a recipe for success that has seen applications for the 2010 festival more than double.

Over 95 events have been submitted and 85 restaurants have applied to take part in the centrepiece event DINE Wellington.

So there'll be plenty on this year's menu to entertain groups – take advantage of the set menu lunches showcasing local cuisine or book your groups in for your choice of the unique events.

The programme will launch early July so keep an eye on the festival website. Or if you're hungry for more and can't wait, get in touch with the Bureau. Our colleagues are organising the festival so we may just be able to give you a few early tips for events, menus and dates.
