When the sun is shining there's no excuse not to be outside enjoying it! As they do say you can’t beat Wellington on a good day. Here are some suggestions on things to do. Feel free to email us with more suggestions and we'll add them to the list.
Head to St John's bar and enjoy a cold, refreshing beer while lying on the bean bags outside. Team the beer up with their delicious gravy and fries - what more could you want?
Stroll around the waterfront to Oriental Bay and grab a gelato from Kaffee Eis on the way. Their sorbets are so refreshing - the lemon and raspberry are delicious.
Pack a picnic or grab some takeaways and find a cozy spot on Oriental Bay, Waitangi Park or at the Botanical Gardens (you can feed the ducks afterwards!) to enjoy it. Don't forget a rug!
If you're brave enough, go for a dip at Oriental Bay. Or head straight out to Lyall Bay beach for a surf.
Kick a ball around Waitangi park or play backyard cricket with the kids.
Head out to the South Coast to enjoy the lovely Scorching Bay then to Chocolate Fish café for some yummy treats.
Enjoy a coffee or a milkshake at Maranui café while watching the surfers on the beach do their thing.
Bike around the bays or hit the mountains in Makara. If biking isn't your thing then just walk along one of the many walking tracks. Download our Welly Walks iPhone Application for the full list of walks with handy maps.
Grab some rollerblades (your own or from Fergs Kayaks) and blade away along Oriental Bay.
Do the Wellington Writers Walk around the waterfront if you haven't already. Or head to the Botanic Gardens for a lovely walk amongst the beautiful flowers and trees - the Rose Garden is stunning at this time of the year.
Find yourself a cosy spot in the sun and watch the world go by. Cuba Street's the best place - Olive and Plum cafes both have courtyards and yummy iced chocolates!
