Wellington Writers Walk

Embraced by a natural amphitheatre of ocean and hill, Wellington merges big city culture with small town charm. A lively positive energy pulses through the capital of cool. New Zealand poet Lauris Edmond put it best when she wrote:

"This is the city of action, the world headquarters of the verb."

Her words are literally set in stone as part of the Wellington Writers Walk, one of many of the creative capital's public artworks.

Dubbed a ‘city on the rise’ by Lonely Planet in 2007, Wellington rose to the challenge and earned an upgrade to the ‘coolest little capital in the world’ and was named the 4th top city to visit in the publisher’s Best in Travel 2011. Wellington is also a favourite with the locals regularly taking top destination bidding in the Mood of the Traveller Survey.
