Get a Taste of Wellington and Wairarapa at their Trade Day 2008

08 April 2008

A peak inside Ohtel, Wellington's newest and hippest boutique hotel.

Wellington and Wairarapa are pulling out all the stops, to give Auckland-based inbound operators, reservation staff and media a taste of the region’s top tourism products.

Twenty-two businesses will take part in the Wellington and Wairarapa Trade Day 2008 on Thursday 8 May at SKYCity Auckland Convention Centre. The day is an annual regional marketing effort, coordinated by Positively Wellington Tourism, on behalf of the regional Wellington and Wairarapa International Marketing Alliance.

“We’ve got a collection of amazing businesses to meet,” says Jo Heaton, International Marketing Manager for Positively Wellington Tourism. “This year, we’ve got some exciting new boutique accommodation properties, hotels, tour companies and attractions. This is a fantastic opportunity to catch them all in one place, and get a real sense of what’s on offer in the Wellington and Wairarapa region.”

Check out Wellington’s piping hot new boutique hotel – Ohtel. Located on Wellington’s Oriental Bay, Ohtel offers 10 spacious suites over three floors, many with private balconies overlooking the Wellington Harbour, the marina and parks. Villa Margarita is also new to Trade Day - a modern, chic, fully-detached 2 bedroom house located at Pauatahanui Inlet. Parehua Country Estate from Martinborough will be there, with news of its fantastic upgrade, along with luxury lodge Wharekauhau Country Estate.

Get a taste of Wellington’s gourmet food and wine offer with some of the tour companies attending. Flat Earth New Zealand Experiences and Tranzit Wairarapa Gourmet Wine Escape both offer tours of the boutique Wairarapa wine region. Zest Food Tours and Wild About Wellington have the inside word on Wellington’s gourmet scene, and more. National transport operators Tranz Scenic and the Interislander will be there, along with Wellington sightseeing company Wellington Rover Tours.

Prime Hotels and Millennium Hotels & Resorts will also make an appearance for the first time this year, joining the Museum Hotel, IHG Group, James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, Bolton Hotel, West and Bay Plaza Hotels, Accor Hospitality Wellington and Copthorne Hotel & Resort, Solway Park, Wairarapa.

Then it’s time to check out the region’s premier nature and heritage attractions - Te Papa, Karori Sanctuary, Kapiti Island Alive and Pukaha Mount Bruce.

Auckland inbound consultants, reservation staff and media are invited to the open trade exhibition from 9.30am to 11.30am.
