There's always so much happening in downtown Wellington. Here are a few of the latest things...
- Indulge in delicious cupcakes at newly opened cupcake store, Tempt in the Old Bank Arcade. They're small celebrations of food, flavour and beauty perfect for a special occasion.
- Keep the little tots happy with gorgeous clothes, shoes and wooden toys made by iconic NZ brands at new shop - The Baby's Room, downstairs in the Old Bank Arcade.
- Support the Hurricanes when they play the Western Force on 9 May in their last home game. Only at the Westpac Stadium.
- Watch award-winning films at the NZ Human Rights Film Festival that starts 8 May at Paramount Theatre. It's a cinematic event celebrating extraordinary people striving for success amidst the hardest of circumstances.
- Encounter the dramatic undersea world of whales for free! Te Papa's Whales Tohora exhibition is free to Wellington city residents and ratepayers on 8 May. Just bring along a rates invoice, library card or proof of address.
- Love a tasty cocktail? Then celebrate the 202nd World Cocktail Day on 9 and 10 May at Hawthorn Lounge, Motel and Matterhorn. All the bars will feature cocktails from three classic cocktail books.
- Feel the passion of love in Puccini's La Boheme - arguably the most popular of all operas. At St James theatre 10 - 17 May. And if you're under 25 you can go to the shows for only $25!
- Keep our city clean and green by using the new bright green 'Love NZ' recycling bins specifically for drink bottles. The bins have just been installed around the city by the WCC.
- Experience the exquisite new menu at Café Bastille on Majoribanks Street. Try the Excargot and Confit of Duck matched perfectly with fine wine. Bookings are recommended.
- Laugh your pants off at The NZ International Comedy Festival which starts this Sunday. Enjoy three jam-packed weeks full of hilarious international and local comedy acts.
- The Weber Bros Circus has launched their new medieval themed show - La Jester. There's stunning costumes, knights and thrilling acrobatic artistry. From 22 April until 4 May at Waitangi Park.
