“Our new experience planner is an uber itinerary builder that enables you to plan your trip and pack in the best of the city, based on whatever you love best,” Positively Wellington Tourism Chief Executive David Perks says.

The mobile-friendly digital tool takes the hard work out of planning your Wellington experience or ultimate Wellington wishlist, matching your availability, price range and interests with hundreds of sights, activities, eateries, and events.

Users who are feeling lucky can use the ‘mix it up’ feature to randomise their experience and for those who need a bit of help, there’s a range of pre-packaged starter itineraries to build off.

The experience planner also includes a ‘nearby’ function suggesting other activities to experience close to your destination.

Proposed one day school holiday itinerary: Discover sea and sky

Discover Wellington's vibrant history at the Museum of Wellington City and Sea. From here jump on a Ship n Chip tour to Matiu/Somes Island or otherwise tuck into a tasty lunch at nearby One Red Dog. If you've got time, test your problem-solving skills at the thrilling Escape Mate, take a ride on the historic Cable Car, and end the day star gazing at the Carter Observatory.

Proposed two day school holiday itinerary: family fun in the capital

With a great mix of free activities, educational attractions, and food and caffeine stops along the way, Wellington has plenty for the kids to do, without compromising on fun for the adults too. Head to Wellington Zoo to meet the locals, take a ride on the Cable Car to explore the Botanical Gardens, get up close to the treasures at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, and experience the rugged beauty of the south coast on the breathtaking Seal Coast Safari.

The personalised experiences can be arranged, mapped, saved, printed, and turned into a PDF. They can also be emailed to the Wellington i-SITE to help with bookings, and shared with your friends and family via social media.
