Wellington Airport is a short 15 minute drive from the city centre.
Wellington Airport’s ‘The Rock’ terminal has been ranked 4th best in the world by Frommers.com above JFK terminal 5 (New York) and Changi (Singapore) international airports, as reported by USA Today.
The best and worst choices were based on cleanliness, services, on-time departures, navigation and the ease of getting to and from a city's centre.
For many travellers, an airport terminal provides the first impression and the final word on the city.
“Wellington Airport is always looking at new ways to improve the travellers experience and to be innovative in the way we do that,” said John Howarth, Acting CEO, Wellington International Airport.
The Rock has now won 13 awards including the Transport Category in the prestigious World Architecture Festival in Barcelona and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Award.
Last year Wellington International Airport was also voted the best airport in Australasia in the 2011 World Travel Awards, while receiving three awards from the New Zealand Airport Association.
