Up to 16 daily scheduled ferry trips across Wellington harbour to and from Days Bay with regular stops at Matiu/Somes Island, a beautiful nature reserve and historic site offering 360-degree views of the region.
Ferries run weekdays 6.30am – 7.30pm and weekends 10am – 5.30pm. Adults one way: $10, return: $20. Child (3 – 15yrs) one way: $5, return: $10. Concession rates available for school groups. Also in the weekends, round harbour explorer tours call at Petone, Matiu/Somes Island, Days Bay and Seatoun.
For school groups the ferry now offers 3 specifically tailored tours:
1. Harbour discovery cruises with commentary specially tailored for the age of the school group.
2. The Matiu/Somes Island experience.
3. The ship and chip tour – our new popular cruise for school groups in conjunction with the City to Sea Museum, encompassing a museum visit, ferry to Matiu/Somes Island and tour, then on to Petone for a visit to the Settlers Museum and fish & chip lunch on the wharf, before catching the ferry back to Queens Wharf.
