Up to 16 daily scheduled ferry trips across Wellington harbour to and from Days Bay with regular stops at Matiu/Somes Island, a beautiful nature reserve and historic site offering 360-degree views of the region.

Ferries run weekdays 6.30am – 7.30pm and weekends 10am – 5.30pm.

Adults one way: $10.50, return: $21. Child (3 – 15 yrs) one way: $5.50, return: $11. Concession rates available for school groups, (please see our website www.eastbywest.co.nz).

Also in the weekends, round-harbour Explorer Tours call at Petone, Matiu/Somes Island, Days Bay and Seatoun.

For school groups the ferry now offers 3 specifically tailored tours:
Harbour Discovery Cruises with commentary specially tailored for the age of the school group.
The Matiu/Somes Island experience.
The Ship ‘n Chips tour – our new popular cruise for school groups in conjunction with the Museum of Wellington City and Sea, encompassing a museum visit, ferry to Matiu/Somes Island and tour, then on to Petone for a visit to the Settlers Museum and fish & chip lunch on the wharf, before catching the ferry back to Queens Wharf.
