Your essential short city escape. Drive up the coast to the seaside resort of Plimmerton, on to the Nyco Chocolate Factory for gourmet treats. Stop at Lindale Farm for free Kapiti cheese samples, or try their original homemade ice cream and take optional farm walks. Head to Southward Vintage Car Museum before returning to Wellington via the Paeakariki Hill Summit, for spectacular views of Kapiti Island, the South Island.

Palliser Bay Seals, Wine & Lord of the Rings Sites:

Get off the beaten tourist track with this tour of amazing diversity. Visit the most scenic LOTR film sites, including Hobbiton Woods, Helms Deep, the River Anduin, and the Gardens of Isengard, while hearing tales of the antics of the cast and crew of the trilogy. You will travel over the magnificent Rimutaka Hill and Tararua Ranges, through charming local villages, and stop for wine tasting in Martinborough wine village. Cruise around rugged and untamed Palliser Bay, and enjoy unique and surprisingly close encounters with the largest fur seal colony in the North Island.
