Hands-on opportunity to sample some old time magic on an original vintage Wellington City tram-car service running through Queen Elizabeth Park, along a 2km tram line, down to historic Whareroa Beach, near the original 1840's (beach) highway north. Travellers heading north often stopped overnight at Whareroa.
An interesting and relaxing way to learn about New Zealand's tramway heritage as it existed in the Wellington City streets. Other historical aspects about the Park and wildlife also. 'Stables in the Park' is an associate activity / attraction.
Located 50 minutes drive from downtown Wellington.
Admission: Free entry to display. Tram rides to beach: adult return $6, children $3 (aged 5 - 15), under 5 years free. Family concession (2 adults, 2 children) $15. School parties a speciality (group rates).
Open hours:
Weekends and public holidays 11am - 4.30pm. Open September/October/January school holidays.
Other times by arrangement.
