Pukaha Mount Bruce (Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre)
Pukaha Mount Bruce is New Zealandâ's national centre for breeding and researching some of New Zealandâ's rarest species. Learn about how the Pukaha Mount Bruce forest is now home to endangered species living in the wild and how local communities made it happen. When walking through primal rainforest, let your senses experience a place that is returning to the way New Zealand used to be.
See monster eels devour tasty morsels every day at 1.30pm and hear about their trip to Tonga to breed. Check out the antics of the cheeky kaka every day at 3pm as they swoop into feed stations to feast on gourmet delights.
Experience the kiwi noctural house, home to two North Island brown kiwi and learn about what itâ's like to be a kiwi. Have a close encounter with New Zealandâ's oldest living reptile, the tuatara at 12.15pm during weekends and public holidays (depending on weather conditions).
