Staglands Wildlife Reserve & Café offers a unique experience for people of all ages to feed and freely interact with a wide range of native and exotic birds and animals in an environment that has been created with nature’s materials. Located in the beautiful Akatarawa Valley, Staglands is Wellington’s hidden treasure and is a ‘must see’ attraction for anyone either living in, or visiting the Wellington region.
There’s heaps to see and do and one of the great things about Staglands is that you can bring a picnic, have a BBQ, go for a swim (if it’s warm enough!), feed the animals, ride the donkey cart or simply relax in our stunning log building café with a coffee or a wine. It’s a great place for the kids to burn off some energy and you can really make a day of it!
There’s lots of New Zealand native animals to see, as well as plenty of unusual and exotic animals. The Kea can be cheeky and the Kune Kune pigs are real characters. You can play with the guinea pigs, feed the peacocks and see if you can find the turtles in The Secret Garden.
We’re open from 10am every day.
