The emergence of strong competition from Australia and other New Zealand regions, together with changing travel motivations, saw Wellington refresh its campaign in 2008. We needed to ensure the city held its position at the fore of domestic tourism in New Zealand.
Spoil Yourself in Wellington launched in July 2008. The hero 60 second TVC portrays Wellington as a magical destination with a myriad of personalised treats waiting to be discovered and unwrapped.
Spoil also coincided with our strategic shift to solely online and television media buy. While a brand campaign, the success of Spoil Yourself is backed up by a strong online booking capability on WellingtonNZ.com, New Zealand’s most visited regional website.
The versatility of the campaign has also enabled us to better align PR and tactical partner campaigns.
