The Wellington Gold Awards were held in earlier this month, celebrating business success across the region. WREDA CEO Lance Walker joined the festivities.
I love the Gold Awards. There’s always a good vibe in the room with people pausing from the business of doing and taking a moment to enjoy the business of celebrating. I also enjoy seeing who dresses up and what as. Only in the Creative Capital would people attend business awards in garish gold costume.
But of course, the prize for best dressed is the minor one of the evening. Across sectors such as technology, exports, manufacturing, education and events the Wellington Gold Awards celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of our world-class businesses, and the collaboration between them, in our wildly famous region.
For the small team from WREDA who attended the awards, it was incredibly heartening for us to see over half of the Wellington Gold Award finalists, and nearly all category winners, are businesses, organisations or events WREDA or its subsidiary Creative HQ have supported in some way via our business acceleration or advisory programmes, major events funding or promotional work.
We love what we do and it really is a privilege to work with businesses like Flight Plastics, Orbit Remit, Mevo, Tekron and phil&teds, and events like Wellington On a Plate. It’s incredibly satisfying to see these organisations and their leaders grow and develop over time and though the success is entirely theirs, we are extremely proud of the part we’ve played as a partner in their journey.
