Wellington’s top technology exporters showed strong revenue growth and created over 600 jobs in the last year according to the TIN100 Report, an analysis of the performance of the top 200 New Zealand-founded high-tech companies.
The report showed New Zealand’s technology export sector has shifted up a gear with record growth of $609m (7.3%) to combined revenues of nearly $9B for the 200 companies listed in 2015.
The 26 Wellington companies listed in the TIN100 Report generated over $1.6B revenue, 8.0% more than 2014. Percentage revenue growth from Auckland companies in the TIN100 Report was 7.4%.
The growth in Wellington was led predominantly by large companies such as Xero and Datacom, both of whom were named in the report’s ‘EY Ten to Watch’ high growth list. Data Torque and ikeGPS were named in the ‘ASB Ten Hot Emerging’ list.
The report showed employment in technology sectors has been strong across New Zealand with 2,410 jobs created in the last year, 600 of these in Wellington.
