Wellington the real deal for Harcourts NZ Annual Conference

1000 real estate agents from around New Zealand arrived in the capital for one of New Zealand's largest real estate conferences, the Harcourts New Zealand Annual Conference (HNZAC).

About the conference

Throughout the conference, the delegates from around the country heard from a range of industry experts and thought leaders and attended a range of workshops and social events.

One-half of the TSB Bank Arena was transformed into a purpose-built raked auditorium for 1,000 delegates. The other half of the arena was utilised for exhibition and catering with more than 35 trade stands. The conference also had a substantial breakout requirement which changed in size and set up throughout the conference. This was achieved through the versatility of the adjoining venue – Shed 6.

The absolute flexibility and vision of Venues Wellington and partners was highlighted again on the final day of the conference when TSB Bank Arena and Auditorium (Shed 6) were transformed into a spectacular venue for pre-dinner drinks and dinner for 1,000 people, all achieved in less than four hours.

Why Wellington?

Harcourts New Zealand chose Wellington not only because it was fit for purpose, but also because of the experience the city provided their delegates.

“Wellington had been on our agenda for a couple of years because of the city’s reputation as a great host for conferences and the success we have had holding events there in the past. As soon as WREDA came to us with a venue solution it was easy to say yes.”  Harcourts’ National Event Manager, Annah Duncan.

Wellington is located in the middle of the country, making it easily accessible for delegates from around the country. Known as the capital of culture, the city itself is vibrant but compact with an eclectic café and restaurant scene. The airport is only 15 minutes from the CBD which itself is very walkable. The main conference venue, TSB Bank Arena and Auditorium (Shed 6), is located on the waterfront and is within easy walking distance of hotels, allowing delegates the greatest opportunity to experience all of Wellington’s culture.

Harcourts was impressed by the support and help they received from the Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency’s (WREDA's) Business Events Wellington team. They worked together in close partnership to secure the event for Wellington and to ensure its success.

  • 1,000 delegates attended the conference, resulting in and economic boost of $1.5 million for Wellington
  • The wider hospitality sector also prospered with delegates dining at the Dockside Restaurant and Bar and enjoying a dress-up themed networking party at Foxglove Bar and Kitchen, amongst others
  • Business events such as Harcourt New Zealand’s national conference bring visitors who spend on average $318 per night, $110 more than leisure visitors
  • Overall, the business events industry brings $110 million a year into the Wellington region

The Harcourts conference was a great success. Delegates enjoyed the set up of the conference and the organisers were happy with how the event turned out.
