Day One: Wellington's art scene

Be introduced to Wellington at Wellington Museum and hear the stories of our city.

Stroll along Wellington Writers’ Walk along the waterfront and gallery hop between New Zealand Portrait Gallery, New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and City Gallery Wellington.

Head to QT Wellington for lunch at Hippopotamus and a browse of this renowned boutique hotel’s art collection – Wellington’s largest on-display private art collection.

Cross the road to Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and draw inspiration from the incredible exhibitions of contemporary and historical art from the national collection, followed by an exclusive back of house art tour through the collections stores guided by one of Te Papa’s art curators.

Day Two: Wellington Culture

A visit to New Zealand’s capital city would not be complete without a visit to the beautifully refurbished Parliament Buildings. Take a guided tour around Parliament’s architecturally distinctive buildings, there’s the Edwardian neo-classical Parliament House, the Victorian Gothic Parliamentary Library and the unique 1970s-style Beehive building.

Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Treaty of Waitangi, is the agreement that Aotearoa New Zealand is built on and was first signed at Waitangi in the Bay of Islands on 6 February 1840.

Enjoy Lunch at Bellamys by Logan Brown located at New Zealand Parliament. A premium and quintessentially New Zealand dining experience, this is your opportunity to dine at the Beehive, where you might spot some Kiwi politicians if you’re lucky.

Make your way to the Royal New Zealand Ballet headquarters for an exclusive backstage look into the life of a dancer. Artistic Director Patricia Barker will share fascinating insights into the working lives of elite performers at the top of their profession. Royal New Zealand Ballet is a visionary company that excels in both classical and contemporary ballet.

End the day with dinner under the stars at Space Place, home of the historic Thomas Cooke telescope and a digital, full-dome planetarium. Learn more about the planets, galaxies, stars and constellations through interactive exhibits and if it’s a clear night, you can take a look at the night sky through the telescope.
