Online seminars: Building Business Resilience

WellingtonNZ is hosting regional online information sessions on managing the impact of COVID-19 for your business

WellingtonNZ is hosting a range of online information sessions as we continue to unravel the impact of COVID-19 on our business community.

Each online forum will run through advice from experts on how to manage the impact of COVID-19 on your business. Our aim is to cover a number of key Wellington industries/sectors, and connect you with practical advice and support during this uncertain time.

Our next online session is for the Tourism sector.

The speakers for this session are:

  • Tourism Insights from Central Government - David Perks - Managing Director of Regional Destination Development & Attraction, WellingtonNZ, Board Member of Tourism Industry Aotearoa & Chair of Regional Tourism New Zealand. David leads the tourism, business events, and i-SITE teams and is responsible for WellingtonNZ's workforce and business growth team which provides business support initiatives across the Wellington region. Presently, David is leading WellingtonNZ’s contribution to the development of the Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre.
  • Pivoting your Tourism Business to the new reality - Jake Downing – Head of Tourism, WETA Workshop. Jake’s role encompasses all aspects of tourism strategy and management: from sales and marketing to operational delivery, through to HR. His previous governance roles include Director of the Falkland Islands Development Corporation and General Manager of the Tourism Board and Director of i-SITE New Zealand.
  • Tourism Resilience Leadership - Steve Martin - General Manager of the James Cook Hotel. Steve has been the General Manager of the James Cook Hotel for the past 9 years, prior to this he was the General Manager of the Hotel Grand Chancellor Christchurch. Steve managed his team through the immediate aftermath of the 2011 earthquakes where their hotel was badly damaged.
  • Financial Cashflow & Planning (as best we can), post Level 4 - Hamish Mexted – Convex Accounting. Hamish and his team work alongside businesses to take care of all the accounting and tax needs that you would expect from a Chartered Accountant

You will have the opportunity to connect and ask questions during the session and our experts will endeavour to answer them. The session will also be recorded and uploaded to this page following the live stream.
