Camp Wainui is set a midst bush-clad hills only 22 km from downtown Wellington (30 minute drive). The 240 ha site has three separate types of accommodation. The Lodge Complex which provides accommodation for groups of up to 72 persons includes, four units, each sleeping 18 people; all have showers and toilets; two units have their own kitchens. There is a large dining/activities hall; a recreation hall and a seminar room.
Disabled people can access one of the four lodges and the dining hall. This is a self-catering facility and all groups will need to provide for their own meals. Camp Wainui is ideal for all groups, including school camps, church retreats, sports teams and family reunions.
Also available are tent sites, powered caravan sites and a bush-line hut with basic facilities for up to 20 people. Other facilities include a lagoon for swimming and canoeing; playing fields and bush tracks. The independently run 'Wainui Challenge Ropes Course' is also on site.
