Exhibition starts 15 December 2018.

Terracotta Warriors: Guardians of Immortality offers you a rare opportunity to have an intimate and immersive encounter with a selection of the remarkable 2,300-year-old terracotta warriors, who, for more than 2,000 years, secretly guarded the tomb of Qin Shihuang, China’s First Emperor.

The underground army was discovered by chance in 1974 and has come to be regarded as one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century – an eighth wonder of the world.

This landmark exhibition features eight warriors standing 180 centimetres high and two full-size horses from the famous terracotta army, as well as two half-size replica bronze chariots, each drawn by four horses.

Also on show are over 160 exquisite works of ancient Chinese art crafted from gold, jade and bronze from imperial tombs in and around China’s ancient capital, Xi’an, which date from the Western Zhou through to the Han dynasties (1046 BCE – 220 CE).

Experience the wonder of these ancient artefacts and gain a deeper understanding of the First Emperor’s vision and his unification of China, which shaped the nation as we know it today.
