A beautiful heritage building, Government House is the main residence of the Governor-General, the Queen’s representative.

Government House offers a number of exciting education programmes, which have been created to facilitate student learning about the house, and the role, history and importance of New Zealand’s Governor-General.

Our knowledgeable educators will guide you through our Visitor Centre and Government House, discovering more about the Governor-General, his activities and the treasures and artefacts contained in the house. For teachers looking at a civics programme, visiting Government House can work alongside visits to Parliament and the Supreme Court.
