Located in Lower Hutt, 15 minutes from downtown Wellington, The Dowse Art Museum provides high quality free curriculum-linked programmes.

Make a day of it by jumping on a bus for a visit to one of New Zealand's most significant contemporary art museums. The Dowse's talented and experienced educators make learning fun with hands-on creative activities and workshops.

Programmes are based around the museum's ever changing calendar of dynamic exhibitions across eleven gallery spaces. Exhibitions showcase a range of media; from painting, sculpture, jewellery, photography, fashion and ceramics to the world of digital media.

The Dowse Art Museum is LEOTC-funded with a focus on social studies/Tikanga a Iwi and the arts/Nga Toi. Resources and programmes are designed to meet curriculum objectives for all levels, from early primary through to senior secondary students. Sessions can be tailor-made to suit the specific needs of your learners.

Enquire about bus charters or use public transport, buses 83 and 91 leave from central Wellington every 15 - 35 minutes. By car it takes 15 minutes from Wellington (take State Highway 2 to Petone then follow the signs).
