One of Wellington's most popular tourist attractions, the Wellington Cable Car runs from downtown Wellington to the picturesque suburb of Kelburn and Wellington Botanic Garden.
The famous Wellington Cable Car whisks from downtown Lambton Quay to the Botanic Garden entrance at Kelburn, where school groups can find great views of the city, the Cable Car Museum, the famous Krupp gun, and Space Place at Carter Observatory. There is also interesting information at the Treehouse Visitors Centre, down in the Botanic Garden.
Why not make it a Wellington history visit?
Start on the wharves and see the old Hikitia floating crane, Plimmer's Ark, the Wellington Museum, followed by the Cable Car Museum.
At the top of the Cable Car, it is possible for classes to see the winding machinery and computer systems in operation by prior arrangement (contact details below).
A pleasant walk via Kelburn Village will take classes to Zealandia, the world's first fully-fenced wildlife safe haven.
A unique learning experience as well as a scenic journey.
Cable Cars run every 10 minutes Monday to Friday 7am - 10pm, Saturday 8.30am - 10pm, Sunday and Public Holidays 8.30am - 9pm.
