Hot spots to shop homewares

Whether you prefer a Scandinavian sanctuary, a modern industrial space, or a more minimalist retreat, these Wellington homeware stores have all you need to create the home you've always wanted.

Precinct 35

Owner, Prak, has meticulously chosen a range of quality products that have a story to tell with the mantra in mind that "the goods you buy should resonate not disintegrate". Stocking brands not previously available in New Zealand, Precinct 35 draws a strong influences from Japan and further abroad. This is a must-visit if you're looking for unique, premium quality homewares or furniture.

Let Liv

Homeware and accessories store, Let Liv, was founded in 2012 with an emphasis on clean Scandinavian style design and a minimalist approach to life. There's some seriously beautiful stuff in this shop. Super cool cushions and stylish trestle tables sit alongside ceramic plates (so beautiful you'll probably prefer not to eat off them).

Trade Aid

Trade Aid is an absolute treasure trove. As a not-for-profit organisation focusing on fair trade, they stock beautiful homewares and furniture made in developing countries from all over the world. The coolest part of it all is that through fair trade the people who make the product get a fair and equitable return for their labours which enables them to work their own way out of poverty without resorting to aid and charity. Nice one!

Cranfields have handpicked unique gifts, homewares and furniture from NZ and around the world. Stunning local ceramics sit alongside designer jewellery from Paris and Wellington's best range of greeting cards.

The wonderful team who bring you Dragonfly and the Asian Food Republic have recently opened Orient - an Asian homeware store with the most incredible selection of Japanese crockery.

The Vault

If you didn't already know about this place, it's not likely you'll stumble across it without being in the know. The Vault is tucked away down by the Plimmer Steps and stocks a bunch of amazing functional items and homewares from around New Zealand, and the rest of the world.

Brown & Co.

Brown & Co. is a design-lovers dream. Taxidermy, quirky ornaments and artworks adorn the busy shelves - making it just as much a museum as it is a shop. You could spend hours just gazing at all the unique homewares they've got on offer. If you're looking for something a little different, this one comes highly recommended.
