The Wellington Gliding Club provide trial flights to members of the general public interested in gliding.
Trial flights are available most days the club is operating and are a great way for people to discover the sport, with the bonus of great scenery. Trial flights offer you a chance to experience gliding in a state-of-the art two seater DG 1000.
To take an instructed trial flight, you will need to join the club as a short term member. This entitles you to an initial briefing and an introductory flight with one of our instructors.
After the tow plane has released, you will be shown how the controls operate and have an opportunity for a hands on experience.
Your membership is valid for three months and entitles you (if you wish) to further lessons at member rates on a pay as you go basis (not transferable). The club offers two levels of introductory trial flight at prices shown below.
The club operates most weekends, and seven days a week over the summer season (December - April).
Flights are available for children as young as eight, and there is no upper age limit. All flights are with a qualified gliding instructor and include the opportunity to take the controls for yourself, if so desired!
