Street Art. It’s a term that folk shy away from, it conjures up images of a balaclava-clad recalcitrant defacing public spaces with subversive scrawls or 'young hooligans' getting chased down the road after spraying some questionable body part on Grandad's freshly painted fence.  This series should sway your opinion and highlight some of the best streetscapes to grace the walls of Wellington.

Here are some of my favourite pieces that have popped up around the city recently.

Coffee Supreme + All Birds / Corner of Ghuznee & Leeds St.

They are often commissioned works inhabiting somewhat of a reclaimed outdoor-gallery space, giving a new lease of life to an otherwise unused canvas in the form of a concrete wall.

Crafters & Co / Victoria Street

It’s often the case that the best discoveries are right under our nose. Whether that be on your commute to work or on your Saturday coffee run, you’re bound to walk past one of these little beauties. So if your wracking your brain for things to do on the weekend and Netflix just isn’t going to cut it, why not go on your own tour of these works, there are sure to be a few hidden gems in your area waiting to be admired!

Oh my gosh, these are fabulous. Now I don't even need to leave the country to see some fine street art. Am noting all these addresses for my next visit to the coolest capital in the world.

Very cool - thanks for sharing! I know many of these very well! I also have been taking photographs of Wellington public art (from sculpture through street art and more) Here's a recent gallery of some favorites (https://www.flickr.com/photos/robertpeckyno/albums/72157679683756103)
