WellingtonNZ is the team tasked with making Wellington wildly famous. We work with a bunch of zealous Wellingtonians who are content creators for WellingtonNZ.com, and we’re looking for another to add to our whānau – an entertainment writer.

We want someone with a passion for arts, culture and live entertainment, and can share this with like-minded folk. You’ll hold the almighty responsibility of telling the story of Wellington’s kick-ass calendar of events and will do it with style.

You’ll love entertainment in all its forms, from musical theatre and rock gigs, to contemporary dance, classical music and sport. You’ll have a knack for dealing with publicists, chatting with cast members, writing up events to help them find a broad audience, and have the time to write around two articles a month.

Your articles will help connect audiences with great live experiences in Wellington and our venues*, support our clients and other partners in marketing their events, and reinforce the capital’s reputation as the creative capital.

Who are we after?

  • You have a love of the written word and can summarise events in a highly compelling way.
  • Whatever your background, you'll need to be a genius at translating your experiences into entertaining and inspiring articles that make people want to get out there and explore!
  • You can commit to writing two articles per month and updating our ‘What’s on this week’ and ‘What’s on this month’ guides.
  • You can stick to deadlines.
  • You know your way around an apostrophe and can safely determine when a comma is necessary.
  • You like the sound of some extra cash in your bank account.

All you have to do to apply is tell us a little bit about yourself and submit a piece of writing about one – or some – of Wellington’s upcoming events.

Send us an example and apply now. Applications close 5pm, Thursday 18 April.
