This week in Wellington, fans of trap rap, dance, soul, folk, dream-pop and trip-hop are in luck. Below we present you the Cliffs Notes on four nights of entertainment.
On Wednesday the 5th of May, Harlem's A$AP Ferg of A$AP Mob returns to Wellington to perform at Bodega. The celebrated star of such songs as 'Shabba' and 'Work', Ferg's high energy sound and stage show was a big hit last time he visited our country. Presale tickets are available via Ticketmaster. More on the door.
On Thursday the 6th of May, the monthly Tuatara Open Late arts/music/dance evening returns to City Gallery Wellington. This time it will feature the return of the famed Poi E/Thriller flashmob, Michael Jackson karaoke, a talk from cultural critic Martin Patrick, and other treats. Koha entry. 5pm start.
On Friday the 7th of May, Louis Baker, Thomas Oliver and Warren Maxwell perform at The Pines in Houghton Bay. All loved for their soulful songs, nuanced guitar-playing and generous stage energy, you won't catch these three talents together in an environment this special and intimate anytime soon. Presale tickets available via Dash Tickets. This event will sell-out.
On Saturday the 8th of May, Yumi Zouma and Doprah perform at Meow. High achievers online and offline, over the last few years these two Christchurch rooted acts have been taking their dream-pop and trip-hop sounds to interesting places. Along the way they've played shows around the world and released well-received recordings. Billed together, they should make for a tasteful Saturday night out. Presale tickets are available via Under The Radar. More on the door.
