The wildly loved, unique character Tim Minchin is heading to Wellington for an encore rendition of his hit show Back.

As an internationally renowned, award-winning musician, comedian, actor, writer and composer, Minchin has been welcomed in by Wellington audiences. Come June, the performer will revisit his popular 2019 show, imbued with new energy and humour.

With the tagline, Old Songs, New Songs, F*** You Songs, the show includes a wide set list that draws on Minchin's eclectic repertoire. The original Back shows, running in 2019, were the first for Minchin following his orchestra arena tour in 2010 and 2011. These shows shared familiar hits from Minchin's stage musicals Matilda, Groundhog Day and his TV series Upright.

It also featured songs from Minchin's studio album Apart Together, which reflects the artist’s blunt and clever take on past experiences, relationships, and social and political events. Tracks include If This Plane Goes Down; Leaving LA; I'll Take Lonely Tonight; Carry You, and Talked Too Much, Stayed Too Long.

The album, released in November 2020, was Minchin's first solo debut and came in at number three in the ARIA charts. On the eve of the release, Minchin and his band streamed a live performance of the full album out to the world for 48 hours, garnering praise for the work.
