World of WearableArt Awards Show
The WOW Awards Show is New Zealand’s single largest theatrical production and a not-to-be-missed annual event
A spectacle like no other – the World of WearableArt Awards Show – is back! The WOW Awards Show will bring Wellington's TBS Arena alive this spring with incredible works of wearable art, dancers, aerialists, and music that makes the soul sing.
At the heart of this theatrical spectacular is the world’s leading wearable art competition. The designers, who come from around the globe, work in radical and innovative ways in the mediums of fashion, art, design, and costume. Only the very best works of wearable art make it to the Awards Show.
The headline artist for 2022 will be the sensational kiwi musician, Estère!
This is the first time in WOW's history that a featured artist's tracks and musical composition are a significant feature within the show.
The competition, and the stunning Awards Show, are divided into six sections. This year the audience will be taken on a magical journey through a world inspired by the Elizabethan Era, be mesmerised as the stage explodes with striking bold colours in the Monochromatic world, and be amazed when the human body is used as an architectural canvas in the Architecture Section.
The designers have let their imaginations run wild in the boundaryless Open section, and explored the unorthodox, radical, and experimental world of Avant-garde. The Aotearoa section is a way for designers to interpret their New Zealand. They are encouraged to tell a story through their design and create something that challenges the conventional.
WOW attracts cutting-edge talent from around the world; garment designers, dancers, aerialists, musicians, performers, and the creative team which spends around 18 months bringing each bespoke WOW Awards Season together.
Have a look at some of the greatest show moments and most breathtaking garments from the past decade.
We don’t get spectacle often in New Zealand. Real, huge, fall-in-love-with-it spectacle…it’s rare to see something where the intent is to ‘wow’ you. The World of WearableArt does that.
