A wildlife reserve made up of forest wetlands, native bush, stables, aviaries and swing bridges.
Staglands Wildlife Reserve and café is home to hundreds of native and introduced wildlife.
Located in the scenic Akatarawa Valley, 20km north of Upper Hutt city, the area is made up of forest wetlands, stables, grazing and pasture land, walkthrough aviaries, ten hectares of walking track and swing bridges set amongst native bush and backed onto the Akatarawa river.
There is also a nostalgic recreation of an abandoned Akatarawa bush settlement giving a unique view of the life led by the pioneers during the early settlement of New Zealand.
