Zealandia, previously Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, is a protected area of land in Wellington. It is a pest-free wildlife sanctuary, home to some of New Zealand's rarest birds, reptiles and insects. Zealandia's 'Sanctuary Valley' is fully fenced and lies very close to the Wellington CBD. The lake at the bottom of the valley is large and picturesque, with a valve tower jutting out from the shore and bush bordering the edges.
