Founded in 1926, Hutt Valley High School has been at the forefront of secondary education in Lower Hutt for 90 years. We are proud to be the guardians of this spirit of achievement and our aim today is to develop it even further within the digital age.
We provide a quality, co-educational state education that ensures that every one of our students has the best possible chance to develop their talent and to achieve success in a way that provides them with a purposeful and rewarding future life.
Hutt Valley High School is the largest secondary school in the Wellington region and is able to offer a wide range of subjects, including specialist classes taught by specialist teachers. The pursuit of excellence is reflected in the school's continued success in local and national scholarships and awards and we also take pride in the range of sporting and cultural opportunities offered to our students. Our goal is to produce creative, well-qualified, confident and engaged students who understand the rights and responsibilities of good citizenship in a modern society.
The school is a wireless campus, with free Wifi and data projectors in all classrooms, plus a wide range of facilities including a library and information centre, modern computer suites, three gymnasiums, school marae, Year 13 common room, student centre, recording studio, science laboratories, careers library, canteen, medical facilities, modern art block with dedicated computer design facilities, modern dance and drama facilities and a horticultural unit.
