Mid-Century Modern

If you swoon at the sight of wood panelling, clean lines and gentle organic curves, then you’re going to be in mid-century modern heaven at Ohtel. Each of the hotel’s ten rooms has unique furniture and design pieces which give the rooms an individual character - it's like staying at your very stylish friend’s place or stepping foot into a design magazine.

The four-and-a-half-star rooms are set-up for a lavish and relaxing stay. The rooms feature king-size beds, 42” smart televisions with Sky Television, free WiFi, individual air-conditioning and double-glazed windows for cosy peacefulness. The minibar features artisan local products and will be far harder to resist than any minibar you’ve ever encountered before.

If you love a good long soak make sure you choose one of Ohtel’s rooms with a luxuriously-sized tub - just add a bottle of champagne and a good book and you’re set to get happily pruney.

Ohtel even has one dog-friendly room, so if you are travelling with your best furry friend, be sure to get in touch early to reserve The Studio.

Ever feel like you've walked into a design magazine? This bijou hotel has 10 individually decorated rooms with immersive NZ scenes plastered above the bath-tubs and original, mid-century, Scandi-style furniture and ceramics

Stay by the Sea

Oriental Bay is just across the road from Ohtel, so make the most of your seaside location with a stroll around the bays.

In the warmer months, Oriental Bay is a popular place for a swim or simply sit in the sunshine on the golden sand beach – a scoop of locally-made gelato from one of the many gelaterias comes highly recommended.

On Your Doorstep

Most of Wellington’s best-loved essentials are within walking distance of Ohtel – Te Papa is across the road and Mount Victoria – perfect for getting your bearings of the city - is just behind you. It’s a short stroll to Courtenay Place and Cuba Street for great cafés, laneways to explore and craft beers to taste-test.

Or, if you'd rather stay put, Duppa, Ohtel’s small tapas bar, serves local wine from Wellington's neighbouring wine regions alongside clever Spanish tapas with a Kiwi twist and a fantastic range of Wellington craft beers and coffees. You’ll love your new local.
