Wellington's creative and enchanting hotel that has art and luxury at the centre of everything it does
Enter Wellington's wonderland
Checking-in at QT Wellington is a bit like venturing down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland. Get ready for a dose of the absurd and the unexpected, the wonderful and the weird, along with everything the discerning modern traveller needs. Just like Lewis Carroll's much-loved book, QT Wellington will become an instant classic that you’ll want to return to.
Walk into the QT Wellington lobby and you’ll be welcomed by one of the largest collections of contemporary New Zealand art. The lobby is part check-ins, part curiosity cabinet and part contemporary art gallery, with the smell of freshly-made barista-made coffee in the air (to remind you that you've arrived in the coffee capital). But the art doesn’t just stick to the lobby – it flows through corridors, elevator and even into your room.
The QT Hotel Gallery Harbourview rooms feature a unique artwork created by New Zealand artists and designers - whether it’s a one-off original bedhead mural, a piece of sculpture or custom-made wallpaper. Then there’s the picture postcard-worthy view of Wellington Harbour from your hotel window – a work of art itself. Each room has satellite television and a private bathroom with a hairdryer and ironing facilities.
Bring your bathing suit to make use of the on-site heated lap pool and sauna, plus there’s also a fully-equipped fitness centre.
Art on your plate
The creativity continues at in-house restaurant Hippopotamus with exquisite French-influenced cuisine by executive chef Jiwon Do in a glamorous setting with stunning views over Wellington Harbour. By day, Hippopotamus offers an opulent and delicious high tea service that’s the perfect treat or way to mark a special occasion. By night, their beautifully presented dinner menu has a mix of comfort food and fine-dining dishes with wine or cocktails to match.
On your doorstep
QT Wellington is a dream location for exploring the city with everything you need - from stores, restaurants, galleries and nightclubs - all within walking distance.
Continue your art experience across the road at Te Papa’s Toi Art with two floors of historical and contemporary art from the national art collection. Take a stroll around the beautiful waterfront to see Wellington’s distinctive public sculptures including Len Lye’s Wind Whirler, Solace in the Wind and much-loved Wellington Writers Walk.
