Black Grace – Paradise Rumour

A bold new work by choreographer Neil Ieremia is touring to St James Theatre. Black Grace is renowned for presenting beautiful and challenging contemporary dance works. ‘Paradise Rumour’ is no different as it explores themes of xenophobia and the experience of Pasifika people in New Zealand. It bounces back and forth through time and space, starting with the arrival of the missionaries to the Pacific. On the way it collects memories, visions, and personal and collective experiences.

‘Paradise Rumour’ features six performers including dancers Demi-Jo Manalo, Rodney Tyrell and Faith Schuster. The work is inspired by the poem ‘Paradise Rumour’ by Neil Ieremia in 2008.
