Put your mountain bike riding skills to the test in the Gazley Skoda Karapoti Classic.
As one of the Southern Hemisphere’s longest-running mountain bike events, this huge ride will have your legs pumping and your chest burning.
Starting at Karapoti Park, there are three race options. They each take historic trails, with stunning scenery amid dense native bush.
The original 50-kilometre Classic is only open to 1,000 riders. It navigates an uncompromising yet exhilarating (and achievable) network of 4WD trails. It’s a single track with river crossings and hills that’ll have you grinding up but grinning down through spectacular wilderness. Past winners have included world champions Anton Cooper, Kim Hurst, Lisa Mathison, and Nathalie Schneitter.
The 20km Challenge offers a taste of the classic for off-road rookies, supporters, active families, and school kids. This easier option is every bit as stunning as the Classic. It’s only half the distance and just one big hill making it the ideal introduction Karapoti.
The Karapoti Kids Klassic is an adventurous introduction to mountain biking for kids aged five to 11. It features fun stream crossings, lots of mud, and the odd surprise.
Whether you’re a seasoned rider or want to challenge yourself to step it up, the Gazley Skoda Karapoti Classic offers a memorable experience. So load up your bike and explore the Hutt Valley in March.
