GoGo Penguin

United Kingdom trio GoGo Penguin plays their first-ever Aotearoa show as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival. Bearded magazine has described them as “contemporary British jazz’s great experimenters”. GoGo Penguin has gained a cult following worldwide and presents electrifying live performances.

The band’s music features breakbeats, minimalist piano melodies, powerful basslines, and anthemic riffs. Critics liken GoGo Penguin’s music to Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Aphex Twin, and Squarepusher. They are also influenced by modern classical composers like Debussy and Philip Glass. They will perform music from their exhilarating new album ‘Everything Is Going to Be OK’. GoGo Penguin plays Michael Fowler Center for one night only.

“Powered by fluttering, junglist drums, slithering bass lines and an increasing bank of Eno-esque digital manipulations. Hypnotic stuff.”
