There is still much untapped potential in uniting the biology and technology industries. The Life Sciences Summit aims to highlight collaboration between the two sectors in Aotearoa. The summit runs for two days in Wellington. It covers current research, the latest innovations, and commercialisation opportunities in biotech. There are keynote addresses, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Leaders in the Australasian biotech industry will attend.
Recently, the New Zealand Government set up a biotech regulator. Conference organisers BioTechNZ’s executive director Dr Zahra Champion said the Life Sciences Summit is a perfect forum to discuss this change. “This decision reflects the government’s commitment to open access to gene technology. It is crucial for addressing critical challenges in agriculture, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.”
Life sciences is a branch of science involved in the study of life — such as plants, animals, and humans. It includes zoology, botany, anatomy, genetics, molecular biology, and neuroscience.
