An Unfunny* Evening with Tim Minchin and his Piano

  • Venue

    St James Theatre

  • Time

    8pm

It may be difficult for Tim Minchin to hide his well-developed funny bone when he presents ‘An Unfunny* Evening with Tim Minchin and his Piano’ at St James Theatre this summer. His hilarious songs have delighted audiences and racked up millions of views online.

At his “unfunny” evening, Minchin cannot promise that he won’t amuse. The set list will be fluid and the show will have an unplanned, informal ‘evening with’ vibe. He’ll go all the way back to his earliest days as a songwriter. He may even get the audience to vote on some of the song choices. He’ll chat about his craft and perform songs from his “serious” 2020 studio album, ‘Apart Together’. The set will also feature his acclaimed musicals, ‘Matilda’ and ‘Groundhog Day’.

An Unfunny* Evening with Tim Minchin and his Piano is part of the Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts. Held every second year, the 2024 festival runs from 23 February to 17 March. The festival features free and ticketed events including dance, music, theatre, visual arts, literature and more.
