Wellington Phoenix men’s 2023 season

Get behind the only professional football club in New Zealand and cheer on the Wellington Phoenix this season.

The Phoenix will play a total of 26 games in the Australian premier men’s football competition both here and across the Tasman during the regular season. Eleven home games will be at Sky Stadium.

The team features 13 players from last season, including star striker Oskar Zawada who scored 15 goals.

New coach Giancarlo Italiano has adopted a different approach to developing young talent, which means the Phoenix has signed the cream of the crop from the academy and New Zealand under-20 programme.

Three of the five new recruits, under-20 internationals Fin Conchie, Isaac Hughes and Lukas Kelly-Heald, have come from their reserves. The other two are former Newcastle Jets players Jack Duncan and Mohamed Al-Taay.

Add to the roster New Zealand under-20 captain Finn Surman, imports Zawada, Bozhidar Kraev, David Ball and Scott Wootton and All Whites forward Kosta Barbarouses, and the Phoenix boast a huge mix of youth and experience.

Get your friends and whānau together and head along to experience some of Aotearoa’s epic football talent.
