Your guide to WOW: Victoria and Willis Streets
Wellington goes BEYOND for the World of WearableArt season with plenty of extras to see and do. Check out what’s on offer along Victoria and Willis Streets and add them to your itinerary.
Wellington’s Cuba Street and Ghuznee Streets will be going BEYOND for the World of WearableArt 2023 season. Between the iconic bucket fountain, countless cafés, and dozens of bars and restaurants, there’s plenty of fun to be had (and deals to be found).
Each weekend of the WOW season, you’re invited to shop like a local at Ghuznee Street’s independent boutiques. Wellington-owned stores Sully’s, KAUKAU, Caughley, Coffee Outdoors, twenty seven names, and Underlena are joining forces for a fun, interactive shopping experience.
Connected by friendship and a love for Wellington, shoppers can head into each store and meet the founders over coffee, pastries, or a mimosa. Explore each boutique’s offering, and meet the people behind one of Wellington’s best shopping destinations. Held every Saturday of the WOW season.
Wellington Apothecary.
Around the corner on Cuba Street, pop by Wellington Apothecary. Throughout the WOW season, you can try your hand at a series of creative workshops. Hosted by local artisans, learn about natural perfumery, candle making, watercolour painting, pottery, and more. Workshops must be booked in advance.
On Saturday 7 October, the team will finish the workshop series with a special evening event. Meet the Makers will offer shoppers a chance to chat with the artisans behind Wellington Apothecary’s products and workshops. Enjoy mocktails, sweet treats, samples, and giveaways galore.
If you’re browsing the shops up Cuba Street, make sure you have your WOW ticket handy. Iko Iko will be handing out free WOW-themed 2024 wall planners with purchases (to put your next Wellington trip in the diary). Chili, Abstract Design, and Aro Valley’s Abel Fabriek will also have special offers for WOW-goers.
If you’re looking for a pre-show meal, Egmont St Eatery and Logan Brown both have delicious options. Each offering set prices and either two courses or sharing plates for the table. Bookings are essential (particularly to ensure you have enough time to enjoy before the show). If you can’t decide, choose both. Logan Brown has a post-show dessert and matching cocktail experience.
