Undercover Media is a Wellington-based visual-effects studio located at Avalon Film Studios. It specialises in high-end compositing, set extensions and 3D environments for film and television.

Since 2017, Undercover Media has provided scalable VFX support to international productions, operating to the technical and creative standards expected by major studios.

The studio has delivered VFX services for clients such as Disney, Marvel Studios, Netflix, HBO and the BBC, integrating into high-end production pipelines and meeting accelerated delivery timelines.

The studio is led by VFX Supervisor and founder Max Stummer, whose career includes work at Wētā FX, Rising Sun Pictures and Animal Logic. Max received a Visual Effects Society (VES) Award for his work on Disney’s 'The Jungle Book' in the category 'Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Feature'.
