Are you passionate about storytelling, digital content, and making a real impact in the Wellington region? WellingtonNZ is seeking a creative and strategic Content Manager to lead our content team and inspire audiences to visit, live, work, and invest in Wellington.
What you’ll do
WellingtonNZ is on a mission to create a thriving Wellington region for all by promoting it as a destination of choice for visitors, students, investors, entrepreneurs, and skilled workers, by telling stories that create value for Wellington-based organisations.
Reporting to the General Manager Destination, Marketing and Communications, you’ll shape and deliver our content strategy across all audiences. You’ll manage a talented team to create compelling written, visual, and video content for WellingtonNZ’s owned channels—WellingtonNZ.com, social media, and eDMs. Your work will build Wellington’s reputation through impactful storytelling that drives engagement and results for the region.
Day to day you will:
- Develop editorial content that’s consistent with WellingtonNZ’s brand and tone of voice, optimised for our channels and audiences.
- Lead content delivery with a strategic, creative, and editorial approach to storytelling.
- Manage day-to-day planning, workflows, and execution of our content and channels strategy.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support businesses, events, and major campaigns.
- Oversee the creation of content that targets local, out-of-region, and international audiences.
- Measure and analyse content performance, acting on learnings to maximise engagement.
- Lead, mentor, and empower your team, fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
- Manage budgets and contribute to the leadership team.
About you
You’re a skilled digital communicator with 5+ years’ experience in writing, editing and content creation across digital and traditional media. You bring:
- Proven people leadership and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Advanced technical ability in digital publishing, social media, and CMS platforms.
- Editorial expertise across multiple content channels.
- Razor-sharp attention to detail and organisation.
- Experience managing relationships with partners, agencies, and stakeholders.
- A passion for Wellington, its people, events, and businesses.
- Relevant tertiary study and a full, clean driver’s licence.

This salary for this role will be between $119,000 - $132,000
